The contractor is currently on site at the school carrying out a £630K project to extend and upgrade facilities, creating a new single-storey IT suite and completely refurbishing the existing buildings in time for the start of the new academic year in September.
The winning poster designs created by Lucy Nelson, Sinead Hallam, Olivia Dean and Hannah Gummery were selected after a lengthy judging process, highlighting the high standard of entries received from pupils attending the well regarded West Yorkshire primary school. Lucy, Sinead, Olivia and Hannah produced posters that incorporated great slogans and bright vibrant colours to help warn of the very real dangers of playing on construction sites. The winners each received a framed copy of their design and a £25 gift voucher and the posters will now take pride of place on ISG sites across the UK, helping to keep both site workers and members of the public safe.
Mick Quealy, ISG's health & safety advisor, commented:"It is extremely important for children to understand and learn about the dangers posed by construction sites at an early age. Whilst we give talks, show short films and have practical demonstrations of equipment that we use on site to keep ourselves safe, engaging with children at a creative level is a key part of the learning experience. The creative process means that pupils can apply this knowledge practically, creating a poster that get across the key message that it is never, ever safe to play on a construction site."
