ISG has been awarded a £4.5 million design and build project to construct the final phase of a prestigious marina scheme in Portishead, North Somerset, by luxury residential developer, Charles Church.

The project sees ISG deliver the shell and core construction of 60 residential units in a seven-storey block overlooking Portishead Marina. The initial contract includes the fit out of fifty percent of the apartments with a client option to extend the programme to include the fit out of the remaining units.
The previous three blocks in the scheme were constructed in-house by the developer and all are now fully occupied due to the popularity of the waterfront location and the high quality design of the scheme. The final and largest block in the development has been awarded to ISG and will involve the construction of a concrete frame structure with a secondary metal sub frame. The building's façade features brick cladding across the ground floor and a combination of insulated render and timber cladding panels at higher levels, with curtain walling elevations on the duplex penthouse apartments.
The challenging project will be completed across a series of phases by ISG to allow marketing of the apartments via a show flat completed early in the programme. Careful phasing will also allow residents to take occupation of completed units at various pre-planned stages during the development. The marina location requires complex substructure work to be completed early in the programme with significant piling requirements for the new building, which is scheduled for full completion in December 2012.
