UBM Built Environment has chosen construction and property industry homelessness charity CRASH as conference partner for their Sustainability Now event taking place on 9-10 November 2011. Speakers confirmed include Kevin McCloud - author, broadcaster, designer and a Great British Refurb front man!

Sustainability Now is a free-to-attend virtual conference and exhibition that visitors attend online via PC or Mac.
The event focuses on sustainability in the construction, architecture and property industries and is relevant for anyone working in these industries with an interest in the green agenda.

CRASH chief executive Francesca Roberts said:

The first 2011 Sustainability Now held earlier this year helped raise £500 for the projects we support, but also enabled us to reach an audience CRASH need to connect with to sustain our support of homeless men and women in the UK."
Sustainability Now will donate 25p to CRASH for every delegate who attends the virtual event.

CRASH is the construction and property industry's charity for homeless people. We are a practical charity that focuses on improving and constructing buildings used to help homeless people. We do this in three ways; awarding cash grants, providing professional advice and supplying free materials.
CRASH is unique. As an industry charity we encourage our patron partners to get directly involved in helping the projects who ask us for assistance. This practical approach delivers better standards of building by matching industry support exactly to the needs of a particular project. Sometimes a simple cash grant may be the solution but often the expertise of a willing professional seconded to the project to help ensure effective completion, is worth more than money alone. Similarly, supplies of much needed building materials, from bricks to flooring and internal finishes, can help achieve a better outcome for the building's owners and their end users.
The industry's goodwill and practical sharing of materials and skills means that much needed renovation and development can be carried out to a far higher standard than would otherwise be possible, providing a safe, sustainable and welcoming refuge for people in need.
CRASH receives no government funding and is 100 per cent funded by the UK construction and property industry. Run by a team of only three full-time staff, this cost-effective way of running a charity has enabled CRASH to help over 45 projects across the UK in the last year.
