DESIGNING a new home - fit for a favourite toy or fictional character - has been child's play for pre-school youngsters in Bourne.

Children from the Headstart nursery have risen to a creative challenge issued by developer Linden Homes.

Despite already having an impressive portfolio of new homes designs, the housebuilder has enlisted the help of the youngsters to produce something unique to add to its collection.

Inspired by the ongoing construction of Linden Homes' nearby Red Hall Gardens development in Bourne, the three and four-year-olds have spent the last few weeks perfecting their designs.

Linden Homes' sales manager Warren O'Callaghan and sales executive Karen Pitcher attended the nursery to judge the entries and award prizes for the best. The nursery also received a story sack as a thank you from Linden Homes for their participation.

Headstart deputy manager Di Perry - who approached Linden Homes initially with the idea of giving the children an insight into housebuilding - said: "This has been a really fun project, and the children have all been very enthusiastic to get creative and learn a little about the environment around them."

Linden Homes' area sales manager Warren O'Callaghan said: "We received a wonderful reception from the nursery and the children - all keen to show us their designs. They certainly let their imaginations run wild and the entries were superb. It was very tricky to have to choose only three winners."
