CHILDREN from Howden Junior School have been treated to an extra curricular lesson - with house building appearing on the timetable!

A group of youngsters and teachers received a special invitation from Linden Homes to see just what goes into building a new housing development.

And where better to get an insight than at the nearby King Edgar's Court development in the town, which is currently under construction.

A total of 183 children, kitted out in high visibility vests, recently visited the development, having the chance to chat to site manager Rod Latham and his team about what goes into building the 54 two, three and four-bedroom homes.

Rod said: "We held a series of visits for the children, who really seemed to enjoy getting kitted out in the safety wear and finding out a little about the development and what goes in to building new homes."
