Leading UK folding sliding door manufacturer Origin has teamed up with West Midlands supplier 5 Star Windows and Conservatories.

5 Star Windows and Conservatories, one of the largest door, window and conservatory suppliers in the West Midlands, has joined forces with Origin, the leading UK folding sliding door manufacturer, to offer trade customers an expanded range of bi-fold doors.
As part of the Conservatory Outlet Group, the UK-wide network of preferred home improvement companies, 5 Star was looking to expand its range of folding sliding doors and selected Origin as its company ethos was such the same.
Although 5 Star already stocks Sunflex folding sliding doors, it wanted to be able to offer trade and retail customers an equivalent that might cost less but was of equal if not greater quality.
The partnership will help meet the huge demand that now exists in the region for folding sliding doors, combining 5 Star's unrivalled service with Origin's reputation for design and quality in manufacturing - a fact reflected in its Easifold doors which feature a unique free-glide running system. These will be available for trade and retail customers to view at both 5 Star sites.
5 Star, which specialises in designing and installing UPVC conservatories, glass extensions, orangeries, double-glazed windows and UPVC doors throughout the West Midlands and Worcestershire, was set up nine years ago by Richard Manser who started in the industry 25 years ago in his cousin's windows business. His wife Sarah is a 5 Star director and his brothers Ross and Alan also work for the company.
Origin was set up 10 years ago by Neil Ginger when he despaired of getting great aluminium folding sliding doors for the swimming pool business he ran with his father and uncle and decided to design and make his own. Neil's cousin Victoria runs the business alongside him and their brothers David and Oliver manage customer service and procurement respectively.
5 Star's philosophy is "Never to be the biggest, only the best at what we do," Origin's to surpass industry standards in everything it does, from 20-year guarantees (a capability it shares with 5 Star) and more recently the launch of its "Your lead time, not ours" initiative in which Easifold doors are available on immediate turnaround.
The 5 Star workforce includes five sales people and a large number of specialist installation teams, and with its head office and showroom on Stanklyn Lane, Kidderminster, and trade counter on Worcester Road, where three- to five-pane Easifold doors can be previewed, the company is well placed to spread the Origin word.
Richard Manser sees sliding folding doors playing a major role in the redevelopment of the original conservatories built around 40 years ago, ranging from basic refurbishments to replacement with glass extensions or orangeries which 5 Star would claim to be at the forefront of.
He said: "We looked at a selection of sliding folding doors on the market but Origin was really the only one that fitted our company ethos. Their Easifold doors offer genuine quality along with value for money and the two are not necessarily easy to find together."
Origin's managing director Neil Ginger added: "We are delighted to welcome 5 Star to the fold, particularly since there are so many synergies between our businesses anyway."
