Perfecting your pitch more important than ever says UK APMP CEO
Ruby Wax, the former entertainer now running management training workshops for business leaders and David Magliano MBE who played a lead role in the Olympic and World Cup bids will be two of the keynote speakers at the October annual conference of the UK chapter of the Association of Proposal Management Professionals. The APMP is the association for managers from all industries who are involved in complex bid management projects.
The conference, which is open to non-members as well as members, takes place at The Oxford Belfry Hotel, Milton Common, Thame, Oxfordshire, 19-20 October.
Apart from keynote speakers the conference comprises workshops, training sessions and break-out presentations to stimulate both the novice and the seasoned professional. Opportunities are provided for networking and exchanging ideas with others involved in the bidding process. An exhibition attached to the conference provides an opportunity to meet major suppliers to the bidding industry.
Membership of the Association includes representatives from all industries involved in complex bidding processes including aerospace and defence, banking and financial services, construction and engineering, IT and telecommunications, outsourcing and also budget holders.
Commented Nic Adams, chief executive of the UK chapter of APMP: "With many companies finding it increasingly challenging to win new business, advancing the art, science and technology of new business acquisition is more important than ever. In today's business climate it is vital for teams to ensure that their skills are honed to perfection and that they are fully conversant with the latest developments in bid techniques and technology. We are hoping to exceed last year's record attendance of nearly 300 managers."
Other speakers will include Richard Newman who in the last 15 years has trained over 15,000 people from 45 countries and Ric Harris, global CEO of the APMP.
The conference will conclude with a gala dinner and presentation of the APMP 2011 Awards which cover six categories:
