Together with widening the scope and application of its product portfolio, Trade Fabrication Systems (TFS), one of the UK's leading processors of coated and laminated wood based products, has been awarded BS EN ISO9001:2008 quality assurance.
Led by the engineering and quality department, TFS has dedicated 12 months to ensuring that the quality management systems of its panel processing and coating operations meet the stringent requirements of ISO9001. Keen to set the business apart from standard timber treatment processors, TFS has invested heavily in both internal processes that drive quality and efficiency as well as state of the art coating technology and equipment.
Howard Morris, general manager at TFS, comments: "It has always been top of our agenda to provide customers with blue chip quality control procedures and due to the nature of our core business - coatings and peel-off films applied to timber flooring products covered by British Board of Agrement certification - we had an established quality system in place.
"In recent months we have significantly broadened our product portfolio to encompass applications, such as bespoke surface finishes for the kitchen and furniture markets, primed and finished panels for the DIY sector, pre-primed/finished site hoardings as well as panels for hotel and retail fit-outs. As a result we wanted to achieve a quality assurance standard that would be more widely recognised across our customer base and further cement our commitment to customer service."
A basic requirement for government contracts and blue chip organisations, it is hoped that ISO9001 will further enhance customer confidence in TFS' robust internal standards that ensure stringent quality control as well as the capacity to turn around bespoke orders in an efficient and timely manner.
TFS has a wide portfolio of finishes including fire retardant foils/coatings, anti-bacterial films/coatings, peel off protective films, UV lacquers and paints, in a range of colours that combine decorative appearance with technically enhanced performance. With a specialist in-house technical team, TFS works in partnership with clients in order to develop completely new products or to create a combination of finishes. These factory finished products are being utilised in a diverse range of applications, including residential and commercial construction, retail/office fit-outs, agriculture, landscape, leisure buildings and packaging.
