BM TRADA Certification has gained UKAS accreditation for its Building Insulation Products scheme, applicable to a wide range of insulation products and systems. Assessment is based either on conventional test methods against the relevant harmonised EN product standard, or on sister company TRADA Technology's in-situ testing protocol, which involves energy consumption monitoring of full-scale test structures.
BM TRADA Product Certification Manager David Payne said, 'This achievement is the culmination of a great deal of hard work to satisfy UKAS that our procedures are robust and that we have all the necessary systems in place to meet their requirements. The Q-Mark adds considerable independent credibility to a manufacturer's own product performance declaration and provides specifiers, regulators and inspection authorities with the appropriate information for them to identify suitable insulation products.'
The Building Insulation Products Scheme joins a suite of UKAS-accredited Q-Mark schemes, including doors and windows. Accreditation means that certificates issued under the scheme will carry the UKAS 'tick' logo. Q-Mark involves not just initial type testing of a product, but supervision of factory production control and an ongoing programme of audit testing agreed with clients.
