HSE have now launched their online Training Pages which details the requirements for asbestos training, including the type of training required; initial and refresher training; employer responsibility and training provider competency.

Further to this the HSE for the first time have released a statement regarding eLearning(sometimes referred to CBT
or Computer Based Training); 'HSE recognises the use of eLearning as a viable delivery method'. NATAS have worked closely with the HSE since the initial development of our eLearning courses in 2008, with a view to setting the standards for Asbestos Awareness eLearning, ensuring content satisfies the objectives as stipulated in Regulation 10 of the Control of Asbestos Regulations 2006 and the supporting Approved Code of Practice L143, that security and data protection requirements are met as well as ease of use and providing a high quality and valuable learning experience for users.

''Online learning (often referred to as eLearning) is increasingly used as a method of providing asbestos awareness training. HSE recognises the use of eLearning as a viable delivery method, among others, for the delivery of information, instruction and training in relation to asbestos awareness training, provided the course content satisfies the objectives as stipulated in Regulation 10 of the Control of Asbestos Regulations 2006 and the supporting Approved Code of Practice.''
