Bracknell, UK, 19 July 2011 - Diversified technology company 3M has announced enhanced multi-layer, cast car wrap films featuring adhesive technology optimised for easy vehicle graphic installations without bubbles or wrinkles. The Controltac Car Wrap Films from 3M are ideal for self-coloured vehicle wraps and provide excellent conformability, enabling faster application to reduce costs and vehicle downtime.
Controltac Car Wrap Film with Comply version 3 Adhesive Series 85Cv3 is available in five high quality gloss, matt and metallic colours for car customisation or the transformation of a whole corporate fleet. Alternatively, users can choose their own unique identity, or conform to specific branding requirements, using 3M's custom colour matching service.
Controltac Car Wrap Film Comply version 3 Adhesive Series 1080Cv3 from 3M provides additional options with matt and 3D textured finishes, including carbon fibre black, carbon fibre anthracite, white carbon fibre, matt silver, matt black, matt military green, brushed aluminium, brushed steel, brushed blue steel, brushed titanium and brushed gold. The film is for long-term use on standard vehicles (buses, vans and cars), commercial vehicles and fleets.
Both films can be applied to flat surfaces, simple curves and moderate compound curves. They have a multi-layer construction and grey, pigmented adhesive giving excellent opacity for covering high-contrast surfaces. The thicker construction makes for easy handling, simplifies removal while protecting vehicle paintwork, and offers resistance to petrol spillage and durability against harsh weather conditions. Supplied in 60-inch wide rolls for immediate application, with no printing or overlaminate required, the film can cover an entire vehicle without seams, or can be used for bonnets, roofs, boot lids, bumpers, door panels, racing stripes and exterior mirror covers.
Using these Controltac Car Wrap Films saves time and money compared to paint replacement as vehicles can be out of the body shop much quicker, which helps maintain ownership and lifetime value of fleets. The initial tack makes the products very simple and convenient to use, and the Controltac Adhesive enables repositioning of the film until it is exactly where it needs to be before pressure is applied. Non-visible air release channels in the adhesive allow wrinkle and bubble-free installation for rapid, impressive wrapping results.
Feedback from signage experts in the vehicle wrapping sector has been especially positive.
According to Ben Wyke of Wyke Signs, application of Controltac Car Wrap Films are "much easier, faster and glide on. The film takes 30 minutes to apply to a panel rather than 45 minutes with other materials and the results speak for themselves."
Robert Lambie of independent firm, Fast Signs Scotland Ltd, comments, "There aren't many vinyls you can apply in this way. I think it's excellent, with a great feel to it."
Additionally, Alan Watson of Owen Pilling Graphics (OPG) says, "The film is unbelievable! It offers less hassle with an impeccable finish and is the best film we've ever applied for ease of application - it should have creased with squeegeeing but it didn't."
Controltac Car Wrap Film 85Cv3 and Controltac Car Wrap Film 1080Cv3 are available from 3M primary stockists William Smith and Spandex.
3M, Controltac and Comply are trademarks of 3M Company.
