The newly launched wheel alignment information portal, www.alignmycar.co.uk, has announced a 'technical sponsorship' deal with British Touring Car Championship (BTCC) team AmD Milltek Racing, as it continues to raise awareness about the importance of correct wheel alignment.
Under the agreement, the team will carry prominent AlignMyCar branding on their VW Golf for the remaining four rounds of the 2011 BTCC season. The race team will be equipped with a state of the art four wheel aligner at their Essex headquarters, which not only will be used to set up the race car, but will give local motorists and performance enthusiasts the opportunity to have their own vehicles properly aligned.
"Wheel alignment really is an important service for all drivers, regardless of whether they are competing at the highest levels of motorsport, or simply commuting to and from work every day," explains Shaun Hollamby, team principal, AmD Milltek Racing.com. "Not only will the imaging alignment equipment help us to be more competitive on track, but it will also give our fans and road car customers the opportunity to have their car restored to the vehicle manufacturers' original settings or tuned to their bespoke requirements."
The combination of rising fuel and tyre prices coupled with more potholes on the UK's roads has lead to an increased demand and appreciation of wheel alignment services with many motorists, particularly with performance enthusiasts. However, scores of other drivers remain unaware that misalignment results in higher running costs caused by rapid tyre wear and higher fuel consumption, as well as reduced safety and comfort. Furthermore, others are confused about what is the best service to ask for, resulting from different terminology and industry jargon such as tracking, laser alignment and many other phrases.
