A truly unique 1904 'Curved Dash' Oldsmobile, reputedly to have had just two owners, will have motor enthusiasts dashing to Silverstone Auction's forthcoming Race Retro and Classic Car Sale.

Although its top speed only approaches 30 mph, befitting a car of its age and elegance, bidding will be far from slow. With interest already strong, it is estimated at between £32,000 to £38,000.

The Race Retro and Classic Car Sale is one of the highlights at the Race Retro International Historic Show, Europe's premier historic racing event, held from the 24th to 26th February at Stoneleigh Park in Warwickshire.

Viewing of the lots at Race Retro will be all day on the Friday (24th) and until lunchtime on the Saturday (25th), when bidding commences. Under the hammer will be classic and race cars, motorcycles and automobilia. Anyone interested in attending the sale will be required to purchase an auction catalogue.
Nick Whale, managing director, Silverstone Auctions, said: "This 1904 Oldsmobile is the oldest car that we've ever bought to market, but its timeless elegance and appeal will mean it's one of the most sought after.

"This is especially so because it is thought to have had just two owners and for the first fifty years remained with an Oldsmobile dealership. This particular model is also unique in Europe for having a rear entrance tonneau body."

The car's history shows that it has benefited from extensive work on it after being imported from the US and that it has made a number of London to Brighton Veteran Car runs.

"This is a great opportunity to buy a low ownership motor vehicle of some 108 years of age. While it may be surrounded by faster and sleeker cars at the sale, it will definitely be one of the quickest off the mark when bidding commences," added Nick.

Anyone interested in submitting an entry into the auction can call 01926 691 141. Meanwhile, auction catalogues are available online

Silverstone Auctions is also pleased to announce the following confirmed auctions in 2012. They are The Spring Sale on Wednesday 16th May, The Silverstone Classic Sale on Saturday 21st July and The Autumn Auction on Wednesday 5th September.  All these are being held at 'The Wing', Silverstone.
