The Chartered Institute of Marketing Construction Industry Group (CIMCIG) is to launch a report on 'The commercial value of sustainability,' at this years CIMCIG summer event on 22 June. In partnership with the Institute for Sustainability, the CIMCIG report will present key issues and proposals into how to create markets for low impact buildings and accelerate the take up of sustainable building systems and technologies.

As the first in a series of specially commissioned industry reports for construction marketers, the CIMCIG report looks at the opportunities sustainability represents for construction, the opportunities low impact buildings represent, and highlights the need for greater progress. It will urge individual organisations to take it upon themselves to fulfil sustainability criteria and capitalise on commercial opportunities available.

Ian Exall, CIMCIG Chair, comments, "There is an evident shift in the way sustainability is now regarded, with mounting consumer and corporate awareness of the negative impacts of goods and services leading to changes in demand. It is therefore imperative that businesses (no matter the size) engage in delivering sustainable products and services, not only in an effort to move towards a low-carbon economy, but also as a means of developing new market opportunities and improving profitability."

Jointly hosted by CIMCIG and the Institute for Sustainability, the CIMCIG report launch event is to be held at the Building Centre, 6pm - 9pm, on 22 June 2010. Key industry leaders and CIMCIG members will have the opportunity to hear a summary and findings of the report by author Jeremy Sumeray, a leading writer on sustainability in construction, and receive a free preview copy.
