Plastic Surgeon - cosmetic repair specialists and experts in material and building product repairs such as - Plastic and GRP, Woods and Veneers, Stone and Brick, Ceramics and Enamel, Glass and Glazing, Metals and Foils, and other Surfaces is pleased to announce they have been shortlisted as a finalist at the 2011 EDIE.net Awards for Environmental Excellence, under the category of 'Sustainable Construction' for their 'repair not replace' sustainable strategy.

The 2011 Awards for Environmental Excellence are organised by www.edie.net, (Environmental Data Interactive Exchange), the online resource for sustainability professionals and Europe's biggest environmental website.  The Awards celebrate thought leadership and innovation in sustainability, they recognise the projects and products that are delivering real progress and highlight them as examples which can inspire others to improve their processes.

The competition has been extremely tough, with some very high calibre entries for both products and projects. The entries were discussed and considered by edie's expert judging panel at the Environment Agency's headquarters in London, overseen by Environment Agency Chairman, Lord Chris Smith.

Rob Mouser, Managing Director of Plastic Surgeon said "It's great to be shortlisted for such a prestigious Award.  By taking on the 'snagging' or damage inevitably caused by building contractors during the build process, and helping to repair and maintain surfaces in existing buildings, our team work to avoid the need to replace damaged items, thereby reducing the huge volume of material sent to landfill every week."

He went on to say "By carrying out cosmetic repairs, Plastic Surgeon assists builders and contractors to improve their waste management dramatically. Legislation, such as the legally enforceable requirement of Site Waste Management Plans for any project valued at over £300,000 will only increase, so a long-term commitment to repair rather than replace will become ever more important."

The winner's of the EDIE.net Awards for Environmental Excellence will be revealed at an awards ceremony on November 3rd at London's Hurlingham Club

ENDS.
