Beach Hut Resorts is launching the first in a series of demountable beach huts to be installed around the UK by giving away the use of ten beach huts at Cullercoats, Tyne and Wear to the winners of an online competition. Demountable beach huts are in place for the summer season then removed in September for maintenance and storage.
To enter the competition participants simply log onto beachhutresorts.com and enter their details. The ten winners will be announced on the website on Friday the 29th of July 2011 and will have full use of the huts until 11th September.
A Beach Hut Resorts spokesman commented: "We all thought it would be fun to offer the beach huts free to visitors and residents for the remainder of the season. We will conduct a customer satisfaction survey in September to see if there are ways we can work with North Tyneside Council to improve our visitors experience. The UK has wonderful coastlines which represent a fantastic leisure resource for locals and visitors alike. By bringing beach huts back to the coast we will contribute to the ongoing improvement of our sea side towns. Our development at Cullercoats is our first site for beach huts which can be removed in the winter for maintenance, then returned in the summer and we are working closely with Councils throughout the UK to install more for the 2012 season."
The beach huts will be built in the north east by social enterprise TCUK Property Services, a social enterprise construction company set up by the Cyrenians.
Chris Burn, Managing Director of TCUK Property Services said: 'These beach huts represent an exciting development in the growth of TCUK Property Services. By making the huts in our Newcastle workshop we can train and mentor excluded adults in the construction industry. We look forward to building an increasing amount of beach huts that will eventually populate a large proportion of the British coastline.' A
Beach Hut Resorts spokesman said: "This is the start of a nationwide programme of building and installing high quality, attractive beach huts along the British coast. Our aim is to work with TCUK Property Services so we can help excluded adults back into employment with skills they can use throughout their construction careers."
The competition is open to locals and visitors to the region, and the winners are invited to make full use of the beach huts during the remaining summer season. The beach huts will be removed by 11th September to allow for winter storage and maintenance before they return in May 2012.
