New Worktop Colours Extend Art Of Surfaceology

According to various surveys, homeowners are planning to spend more on home improvements, believing that improving a property is a better bet than moving, in the current climate. What's more an online poll declares that the top home improvement project by far is kitchen remodelling.

Readying themselves for this continued remodelling trend, Granite Transformations have launched two additions to their Italian granite worktops collection, Mystic Brown and Bianco Modena. In the States, the acknowledged 'kings of kitchen remodelling' have even trademarked the term Surfaceology™ to cover the installation of replacement worktops and cabinet doors, in a bid to convince homeowners that getting a new look kitchen doesn't have to be an expensive, painstaking process.

"Nowadays, fitting new kitchen cabinets doesn't need to involve getting rid of your old units. With Surfaceology™ cabinet refacing technology, you can install brand new worktops on top of your old ones and replace tired-looking cabinet doors and drawer fronts with new. Not only does it completely remove the demolition aspect, a job that might have taken several weeks can be completed in one or two days. Using the art of Surfaceology™ will save you a lot of money too," says the firm.

Granite Transformations' two newest colours are perfect additions to the Italian granite range, since both are fashionable neutral tones and will work with a variety of colour schemes. Bianco Modena is a light tweed mix of mottled browns, slate and off-whites, while Mystic Brown displays earthen and ochre tones on a bed of grey and white fragments. Underlining the fact that these surfaces are made from up to 97% natural stone, the two new colours were introduced to replace popular Wintermute finishes, when the quarry supplying the main ingredients closed down. The replacements capture the mood of the originals, but featuring natural stone shards means they are inevitably different.

Like all Granite Transformations worktop materials, the new finishes are lightweight, flexible and only ¼" thick, yet immensely strong, non-absorbent and offering outstanding resistance to heat, scratches, stains, burns, knocks and chemicals. The slimline profile allows them to be fitted neatly over existing worktops and tiled splashbacks without messy demolition, saving aggravation, time and money, while adding value to the kitchen.

Nor is Surfaceology™ limited to worktops. For full kitchen remodelling at a fraction of the cost of new fitted units, Granite Transformations will also install made-to-measure replacement unit doors and drawer fronts, in a wide choice of acrylic, timber-faced, textured and bold metallic finishes. You keep the layout you like, there's no need to change plumbing or wiring, and the outcome is a gorgeous, new look kitchen, with wipe clean, low maintenance surfaces.

Surfaceology™ experts can be found at any Granite Transformations showroom, who will measure up, advise on kitchen décor, install worktops and replacement doors, tidy up afterwards and provide material guarantees.
