The blog will act as a technical information portal that communicates key industry updates, news and opinion. Structural Precast Manager, Gareth McMeekin said: "The benefits of using precast concrete are well known, but selecting the most appropriate product for each project is often more difficult. For example, reinforced precast concrete floors are more economic for shorter floor spans and light loading situations, e.g. Housing / residential construction, whereas prestressed flooring units can span longer distances and take heavier loads, making them more suited for commercial construction projects.
These issues need consideration earlier in the building design process so the purpose of our new blog is to regularly post and advise on specific applications and address technical issues from UK housebuilders and construction contractors." The blog can be found at www.precastconcreteflooring.co.uk to keep updated on all precast concrete technical information and applications.
