Oxford Instruments Magnetic Resonance (OIMR), the supplier of intelligent NMR, announces that it will launch the new GeoSpec2 modular core analysis instrument at the 2011 SPWLA Symposium, to be held May 14-19, 2011 in Colorado Spring, CO, Booths 104, 106 and 108. OIMR will be exhibiting jointly with Green Imaging Technologies, Inc. (GIT), with whom they have a strategic partnership to develop new and exciting technologies to enhance the capabilities of NMR for core analysis and improve the accessibility of the technique. GeoSpec 2 advances both performance and flexibility in NMR core analysis. GeoSpec2 now features Q-Sense, a new probe technology to double signal to noise ratios and reduce echo spacings compared to previous generation instruments. This allows users to collect better data in the same time, or collect data four times faster.
These features allow measurement of smaller pores and reduce measurement times, benefits which are of great interest to the core analysis industry as oil exploration moves into gas shales and other "tight" rocks with low porosities. Developed as part of the OIMR-GIT partnership, GeoSpec2 has been designed from the ground up to be a modular platform, reconfigurable at any time to address changing needs. New hardware and software, with improved performance, enable any core analysis laboratory to generate the petrophysics values industry requires, without the need for review and analysis by trained NMR experts.
Core analysis laboratories can now add NMR to the techniques they can offer, allowing them to perform well log calibration and fast measurement of a wide range of parameters. System modularity throughout the system facilitates measurement of cores from one to six inches. Magnets range from 2 megahertz (MHz) for optimum well log calibration to 12 MHz for the best diffusion and imaging experiments. The GeoSpec features compact, modular electronics, without compromising the ability to use higher power RF and gradient amplifiers. Multi-level software is available that matches capability to requirements, from new user to advanced research. OIMR and GIT offer global support for the GeoSpec 2 instruments, with support bases in the United Kingdom, USA, Canada and China. The OIMR-GIT partnership supplies systems all over the world, with instruments installed on 6 continents.
