We have begun to see an increase in the amount of jobs advertised on the site on a daily basis. And we feel this could be early signs of the recovery for the industry. Areas we have seen remaining strong throughout the recession are business involved in renewable energy and backup power. We believe these areas will continue to grow with the emphasis been put on worldwide energy conservation.
We get asked by candidates registering with the site for advice on their CV. Candidate applying for electrical positions and not receiving feedback. Our opinion is that it is true that you should try and keep your CV to a couple of pages. Many skilled candidates feel they would really like to go into more detail and sell themselves. We would say this is completely acceptable but try and make the first couple of pages the focal point. Also, it is a good idea to really take time to read the job description and highlight relevant points on your CV. In the first instance the applications will not always go to a technical person. This person may be responsible for the initial short list and will be looking for relevance in the CV. They may not necessarily fully understand the technical lingo we use in the industry.
Why did we launch a dedicated electrical site?
After many year in Electrical Recruitment. We thought it was time the industry had access to their own job board. A place where the industry recruiters and the professional candidates can come together in one place. Rather than looking at various general job boards.
It is easy for anyone looking for a new role to register their details. And currently the site is open to recruiters to advertise their positions free of charge on a 30 day trial. The recruiters or employers who place the vacancy can access their applications on the site and review the CV of the applicant. If the applicant has uploaded a CV to the site, this is attached to the application email. Saving the recruiter's time logging in to the site to view applications. And enabling them to contact applicants directly.
The sites have been designed based on many years experience with traditional job boards. A quick five minute process to register with no complicated forms. The site has industry related news and links to useful information both for employers and jobseekers.
We don't expect the site to be perfect from day one. We have tested it in house but what better way than to let the audience it is designed for tell us what's wrong. We are still working on the site layout and the features. Coming soon will be a CV search facility for recruiters.
We have had a lot of positive feedback on the new sites. Both from recruiters and jobseekers. Unlike some other job boards we are just a phone call away should you be unsure of anything. We will always do our best to help both recruiters and jobseekers.
We hope we can work together with the industry and with the industry knowledge behind the site we can move forward in a positive direction.
Following on from MyElectricalJobs was MyMechanicalJobs. This completes the M&E Sector working on exactly the same principle as the electrical job board.
