AcePSI Group is pleased to announce a new Energy Certification service aimed at improving the awareness of energy use in buildings...

AcePSI now have the qualified staff and accredited experts to provide both Energy Performance Certificates (EPC) and Display Energy Certificates (DEC) for non domestic buildings in order to improve the energy performance of your building(s).

Through AcePSI you are now able to instruct a fully qualified and certified independent assessor for all your energy certification needs. Energy Performance and Display Energy Certificates are both available to ensure appliance with the European Parliaments Energy Performance of Buildings Directive.

This also fits in with Government regulations which state that the certification of buildings needs to be carried out in an independent manner by only qualified and accredited experts.

What is the Energy Performance of Buildings Directive?

First introduced in January 2003 by the European Parliament, The Energy Performance of Buildings Directive (EPBD) was set up with the intention of increasing the investments made in energy efficiency measures for both domestic and non-domestic buildings. The directive works by facilitating requirements to measure energy use within buildings.

Currently, there are 160 million buildings within the EU, using over 40% of Europe's energy and thus producing over 40% of carbon dioxide emissions. This proportion is increasing. Under the Kyoto protocol, Europe is committed to reducing emissions and the Energy Performance of Buildings Directive is intended to contribute to achieving this. It is thought that 22% of present consumption in buildings can be saved and that this initiative could deliver up to 45 million tonnes of carbon dioxide reduction by the end of 2010. In addition to other practices the terms of the directive mainly include:

• An Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) must be produced whenever a building is sold, constructed or rented out. The EPC shows the energy efficiency of a property and includes recommendations on how it can be improved.
• A Display Energy Certificate (DEC) must be produced every year for public buildings larger than 1,000m². The DEC shows the actual running costs of the building and must be displayed in a prominent place. A DEC must be accompanied by an advisory report and the owner of the building must have a valid one available. The advisory report which is valid for seven years, highlights recommendations to improve the energy performance of the building (ie its fabric and associated services such as heating, ventilation and lighting).

To avail an introductory offer of 10% please quote EDCJun10 and email at s.garg@acepsi.com. The offer is valid until 30th August 2010.
