With 14,551* visitors, a 14% increase year on year, four seminar theatres and five unique feature areas, International Firex 2011 was the biggest in its history. Focusing on raising the standards and driving improvement where fire prevention and assessment requirements are concerned, International Firex, one of the largest dedicated fire safety events in the world, took place from 16-19 May at the NEC Birmingham, presenting the latest in approvals and compliance, current fire safety legislation and industry best practice.
With a vast audience of key decision makers and qualified fire protection professionals, visitors to International Firex were presented with a wide range of products and services from more than 150 exhibitors, providing the ideal occasion to observe and experience a vast range of specialist fire safety solutions.
When questioned about the success of International Firex 2011, Graham Ellicott, Chief Executive Officer of the Fire Industry Association, said, "2011's International Firex exceeded all of the expectations of the FIA, from the efficient organisation both before and during the show, to the quality of the presentations in the seminar theatres to the numbers and the type of visitors! FIA looks forward to 2013 and working with UBM Live on the next International Firex, beating the 2011 performance will be tough but the FIA is up for the challenge!"
In addition to the products and services on offer, delegates were invited to attend the scheduled comprehensive seminar sessions which addressed key issues within the fire safety sector and ran alongside the extensive exhibition free of charge. The new feature areas introduced to International Firex this year: ASFP Passive Protection Zone, hosted by the Association of Specialist Fire Protection; Fike Village and the FPA info zone, hosted by the Fire Protection Association, proved incredibly popular across the board in addition to the LPCB Red Book Pavilion and the Info 4 Fire Learning Zone which returned to International Firex for 2011.
James Blue, Portfolio Director - Fire & Security, at UBM Live, a division of UBM Plc, organisers of International Firex, said, "This year International Firex was larger than it has ever been in terms of the number of exhibiting companies and we are delighted at the outcome of the event. The audience we welcomed this year was also higher than in any previous year, without the addition of Fire & Rescue.
"The numerous, exciting and interactive stands ensured that the exhibitors engaged with their audience and we worked hard to develop the educational content and provide a better offering to our visitors through new partnerships for 2011. The feedback from exhibitors and visitors alike has been exceptional."
International Firex returns to NEC Birmingham from 13-16 May 2013 and will be co-located with IFSEC, Safety & Health Expo and The Facilities Show, with each show forming part of the UBM Live Protection and Management series.
