Sunquest Information Systems®, a leading provider of healthcare information technology, announces its new Sunquest Physician Portal™ outreach order and results web connectivity solution. Part of Sunquest's overall Outreach Advantage suite of solutions, Physician Portal delivers meaningful connectivity to community-based physicians who refer patients to a laboratory's outreach and outpatient radiology services.
Providing a highly intuitive way for physicians to electronically enter orders and view results for diagnostic laboratory and radiology tests gives laboratories the tools they need to compete effectively with national providers for outreach revenue. It also supports extending increased revenue potential for other outpatient services offered by the healthcare enterprise.
The solution enhances coordination of care by providing timely and historical diagnostic patient data that ultimately delivers improved healthcare outcomes. This web-based solution provides connectivity that can streamline and automate test ordering and results delivery to community-based physicians. The system is fully integrated with Microsoft HealthVault, so results can be sent electronically directly to the patient's personal health record in HealthVault.
The Health Information Technology Economic and Clinical Health Act (HITECH) provides incentives for the adoption of computerized health records, reducing medical errors, and lowering healthcare costs. The Physician Portal strategically supports the structure for electronic medical record adoption and connectivity within the laboratory outreach service line as well as the entire community it serves.
According to Richard Atkin, president and chief executive officer, "The Physician Portal delivers increased quality and safety, improved efficiency, and an enhanced ability to provide patient-centered care for the physician and the lab." He adds, "It enables the efficient and accurate ordering of community-based diagnostic tests, and delivers timely information to care providers, supporting the goals of the HITECH ACT, including cost effective, improved patient care processes."
