Sunquest Information Systems®, a leading provider of healthcare information technology, announced that it has signed a long-term contract with Sisters of Charity of Leavenworth Health System (SCLHS) to provide a state-of-the-art, comprehensive laboratory information system (LIS) which will facilitate sharing clinical and financial information across the SCLHS and Exempla Healthcare system. The system's 11 hospitals and four stand-alone clinics are located in California, Colorado, Kansas, and Montana.
The implementation of Sunquest's best practice laboratory solution suite is expected to reduce costs of IT infrastructure, system administration, and maintenance for SCLHS and Exempla. Consolidating into one system will create consistent workflow best practices across all its facilities, enabling the organization to improve resource utilization, quality of care, and decrease test result turnaround times.

Sunquest solutions to be implemented include Sunquest Laboratory™, Sunquest Laboratory SMART™ for specimen routing and tracking, Sunquest CoPathPlus™, Sunquest Laboratory Blood Bank and Blood Donor, Sunquest Collection Manager™ for positive patient ID, the Sunquest Meaningful Use certified module, and the Sunquest Physician Portal for web based ordering and resulting.
