Yorkshire Copper Tube's Commercial Director is celebrating after completing the gruelling London to Paris Bike Ride and raising £5,500 for the Meningitis Trust.
The 310km journey by Neil Overton and his wife, Ruth, was completed in memory of Ruth's brother Mark, who died of the disease 45 years ago when he was just three years old.
After months of training and fund-raising the journey, from London to Dover and then on to Paris, started on July 1st and ended three days later in a blaze of glory under the Eiffel Tower.
Neil, who joined Yorkshire Copper Tube earlier this year, said: "Ruth and I had one of the most amazing, exhilarating and emotional experiences of our lives on the London to Paris Bike Ride.
"We instantly bonded with our team mates and it wasn't long before we all knew the reasons each of us were taking part in the challenge.
"Knowing that we were part of such a fantastic group spurred us on even more and we have come away with what we are sure will be lifelong friends, which is fantastic.
"We all went out for a celebratory dinner after the event and it was an extremely fitting way to end our journey.
"I would recommend the challenge to anyone who wants to do something out of the ordinary to raise money for such a well deserving charity. My thanks go to everyone who sponsored us, including my colleagues at Yorkshire Copper Tube."
The Meningitis Trust became a registered charity in 1986 and its vision is for everyone affected by meningitis to have access to support for life and to raise awareness about the disease.
