New Gold Privacy Filters from 3M flaunt a stylish look with enhanced security features and unmatched clarity and brightness
Bracknell, UK, 12 April 2010 - 3M, the diversified technology company, will introduce the new gold standard in laptop privacy filters on stand M45 at Infosecurity Europe 2010, 27-29 April, Earls Court, London. The new 3M Gold Privacy Filter range responds to demands from mobile business professionals for a more stylish approach to on-screen data security compliance. Available now in gloss finish, 3M Gold Privacy Filters offer a narrower viewing angle with market leading clarity, but only for the authorised user positioned directly in front of the screen. The first 400 visitors to register at the 3M stand, carrying their laptop in hand (or laptop size, make and model), will get to take a gold or standard black filter away for free.
"The mobile professional community has been applying privacy filters to laptops for the past five years but finally this essential accessory for on-screen data security compliance has entered a golden age. There's no product like our gold filter on the market and it presents great potential for individuality and personalisation," said Nick Hughes, Marketing Manager, 3M Mobile Interactive Solutions Division. "The gold filters will be showcased on our stand alongside the existing black privacy filters, and our range of protection and privacy films for mobile devices. The recently launched MPro150 Pocket Projector will also make its UK debut at the show."
By expanding its privacy filter portfolio for laptop PCs, 3M now offers two options for mobile professionals and IT security executives seeking to protect their confidential on-screen business information. For those users that prefer to remain discreet and inconspicuous, black might be more appropriate but for those that want functionality, looks and uniqueness, gold is the winner.
Results from a 2009 survey(1)conducted by 3M found there was a perceived greater effectiveness of the gold filter over traditional black filters and an overall preference for both work and personal use. Respondent comments included:
"I am very impressed. The clarity and brightness exceed others that I have tried. The privacy is better, with a narrower angle of view."
"The gold filter attracts positive attention, which gives me the opportunity to start conversations about information security awareness."
"Significantly better than the black privacy screen. My colleague immediately commented on how he could no longer see my screen where with the black he had previously been able to see it."
The black and gold filters are simple, reliable protection tools that fit neatly over laptop screens, and can be readily removed and stored when privacy is not required. They are specifically designed to restrict anyone positioned to the side or shoulder surfing from seeing private data on the users screen, while travelling or working in a public environment.
