The leading paper company Antalis McNaughton will sponsor the PrintIT! programme in 2011, demonstrating its importance to the future of the industry. The company will provide the paper for this year's student work book and teacher course book. The books are printed on Cocoon Preprint 120gsm certified FSC recycled paper available exclusively from Antalis McNaughton. 20,000 copies of the student work books and 2,000 teacher course books will be distributed to schools registered for PrintIT! ready to start in September. Last year over 16,000 students from 350 schools took part, with the numbers set to increase for 2011.

PrintIT! is a major industry-backed programme designed to teach young people about the exciting world of printing and its related industries. Led by Proskills, PrintIT! is a joint venture between the printing and paper industries, and The Fairtrade Foundation.

Schools throughout England, Scotland and Wales can participate in PrintIT! which comprises a six to eight week teaching course, through which students studying GCSE and A level Graphic Products, Product Design and Media Studies devise a print-focused campaign to promote Fairtrade products in a supermarket.

The PrintIT! programme aims to encourage learners to consider a career path related to the UK printing and paper industries.

Chloe Thacker, Marketing Communications Manager at Antalis McNaughton commented: "We are delighted to support PrintIT! with the paper for this project which encourages young people to consider a career in our industry in a fun and creative way, but also supports their studies at the same time."

"It's fantastic that companies like Antalis McNaughton support PrintIT! and clearly demonstrates the importance Antalis McNaughton place on the scheme as a major educational driving force for the future of the industry," says Richard Moore, Proskills Industry Lead for Paper and Print.

Cocoon Preprint is a range of matching uncoated paper and board available from 80gsm to 350gsm, made from 100% genuine de-inked post-consumer waste. The full substance range is suitable for a wide range of print applications including corporate stationery, brochures, uncoated text sections, business cards, greeting & business cards. Cocoon Preprint Offset is FSC certified.

About PrintIT!

Launched in 2005, PrintIT! is an industry-wide educational initiative which aims to encourage young people to consider a career in print and paper.

As part of the curriculum-based PrintIT! course, students are challenged to create a print-based campaign. Aiming to promote the many varied and stimulating career paths available within the print and paper industries, the PrintIT! competition was extended in 2008 to include Year 9 students (aged 13-14) as well as Year 10 students (aged 14-15) studying for their GCSEs in Product Design and Graphic Products.

PrintIT! is also relevant to the Diplomas in Creative and Media and Manufacturing and Product Design. PrintIT! is led by Proskills UK, the sector skills council representing the print and paper industries.
