Camfil's award-winning site is a first-class example of sustainability in practice. The Team demonstrated how they have gained recognition within the industry for achievements in energy reduction, innovation and continuous improvement.

The UK manufacturing facility in Haslingden recently won the 'Best Engineering Plant' at the BFA (Best Factory Awards) 2011.

Sustainability is high on the agenda in manufacturing, as many are looking to improve efficiency and develop best business practices to enable sustainable operations. Delegates were told the compelling story of how Camfil Farr achieved success and realised significant financial benefits from their sustainable operations.

The Camfil site team discussed the highs and lows of implementing change, creating a culture of continuous improvement and engaging every member of the organisation on the journey. Delegates then took a tour of the site, to see the world class manufacturing systems and processes in action. Camfil operators and supervisors were on hand to demonstrate their work and answer questions.

The day was an excellent opportunity for manufacturing leaders to see how Camfil is implementing best-practice to achieve sustainability success. Delegates heard presentations from leading experts: Carl Tomlinson of The Manufacturing Institute, David Gardner of The European Sustainability Knowledge Transfer Network and Margaret Zuppinger of Margaret Zuppinger Partnership on the themes of sustainability within their operations, supply chains and the workforce, before visiting the Camfil plant to see the principles in action.

The manufacturing leaders were suitably impressed and feedback from the day was excellent with Camfil scoring an enviable 86% rate of satisfaction. The praise didn't stop there, many of the 45 delegates were quick to send an email to thank the Camfil teams. Comments included:
