Dewsbury manufacturer, Rixonway Kitchens has consolidated its position as the UK's leading social housing kitchen provider with an ambitious upgrade of its production and scheduling procedures.
The new software system has improved efficiencies, bringing significant environmental benefits as well as time and cost savings.
Rixonway is one of the first kitchen manufacturers to utilise the Preactor International software. The technology uses data from the company's Enterprise Resource Planning system to produce a precise, itemised hard copy production plan for its panel manufacturing detailing the quickest, most efficient route to completion.
This is achieved by creating a production plan with the lowest possible setup times and optimum use of raw materials. Preactor is also linked to Rixonway's bar code scanner technology to give an up-to-the-minute status report on every job.
IT Director, Andy Pickard, said: "We manufacture over 12,000 rigid kitchens a week and with that sort of throughput, we are constantly looking to improve visibility of the production process and accuracy to meet client demands with decreased lead times while maximising resources and capacity.
"The new system has brought Improvements in productivity, energy consumption, lowered admin and reduced inventory and work in progress. At the same time, the improved planning and monitoring it gives us has led to faster turnarounds.
"We expect to recoup our investment in Preactor in six months."
The new system was installed by Preactor International partners, Barnsley-based resource management systems, earlier this month.
The new system enhances Rixonway's continued commitment to its environmental practices and excellent service delivery.
