The Storage Equipment Centre (SEC) has recently completed the design, supply and installation of Domino's Pizza Group's storage facility at its new commissary in Milton Keynes.
The solution focuses on three areas within the warehouse - ambient, chilled and freezer stores. The ambient warehouse uses a very narrow aisle pallet racking system which enables maximum capacity for the area with further room to expand if required. The chilled and freezer stores use a dynamic push back racking system. This also maximised pallet capacity which is essential in a temperature controlled environment.
Domino's Pizza Group began working with SEC in 2007 to realise the most efficient and effective solution based on its operational requirements, with installation commencing in December 2009. SEC also completed the installation of the narrow aisle guide rails and barriers within the warehouse for pedestrian and rack safety.
Domino's has a target of 1,200 stores across the UK and the Republic of Ireland by 2021 and the new commissary will have the capacity to service over half of these stores.
