Packaging graphics production agency, Tag pac, has for the first time revealed their unique 3D production and online approval workflow. The Leeds based agency is the only company of its kind to offer this type of technology.

Designed and developed by Tag pac and the Tag: cmd Marketing Resource Management development team, the 3D workflow offers clients a unique experience where they can see, interact with and comment on the packaging graphics development process, before finally seeing what their end product will physically look like on the shelf. Traditional workflows use 2D technology and require a great deal of imagination from the client to envisage how the final product will look.

Clients of Tag pac can even view their packaging files online, using their personalised Tag: cmd portal. This allows the clients to give online approval or to add their own annotations to the 3D image.

Tag pac director Jonathan Milner said; "By incorporating 3D online approval in to the service that we offer clients, we are giving them something which is completely unique and most importantly ensures that their product gets to market efficiently and to the highest quality standard.

"Managing expectations early on in the design process is critical to the way we work. The only reason that artworks have traditionally been two dimensional is so that they fit through a printing press."

"2D methodology does not benefit the designer, the artwork/pre-press stage or the consumer when they are deciding which product to take from the shelf. Making the file two dimensional is something we do at the end of our process, prior to final quality control inspection and sending to the print supplier".

3D workflows have the ability to bring a product to life, in a way that traditional 2D technology does not. Using their personalised Tag: cmd portal, clients can view their final product as if it was on the shelf, from the comfort of their office.
