Yamato Scale Dataweigh, the world's leading manufacturer of multihead weighers and checkweighers, has announced the appointment of Neil Fowell as the new Managing Director of its UK, Scandinavian, Middle East and South African business.

Neil will take charge of the Leeds-based business replacing Mr Watanabe who has returned to the group headquarters in Japan. His first major project will be overseeing the launch of the company's new Omega Series Multihead weigher which was introduced onto the UK market at Interpack in May.
With over 20 years experience in the packaging industry, Neil joins Yamato from Bapco Closures, a leading manufacturer of innovative closure systems, where he led Global Sales and Strategic Marketing across the regions. During his five years with the company, Neil was instrumental in a number of innovative product development programmes with major multinationals, including launches with leading retailer Marks & Spencer and PepsiCo's Tropicana brand. In 2010 he was influential in the signing of a major licencing agreement with the leading international packaging manufacturer AptarGroup, which enabled Bapco Closures to extend its reach across Europe and North and South America.
Neil had previously held various senior management positions at Tetra Pak, including Global Business Development Director of its Carton Ambient division and European Commercial Director of its Carton Chilled division. During his 16 years at the company, he was responsible for delivering across all aspects of the strategic sales processes including developing competitor to consumer intelligence, strategic reviews, internal communications and global training.
