Peterborough-based medical devices company Coloplast (www.coloplast.com) has announced that it will sponsor Great Britain Wheelchair Rugby (GBWR) in the build up to the Paralympic Games in 2012.
As well as providing funding for the league, Coloplast is also providing product and player support along with the backing of one of its trained nurses, enabling the Elite team to have a specialist on board during training and at events.
Coloplast and GWBR continue to build on what has already been a successful partnership, as Coloplast's sponsorship is continued from previous years.
GBWR chief executive David Pond said: "We are delighted that Coloplast has decided to continue its support for GBWR. This is a key year for us. Coloplast's backing provides crucial resources and a like-minded partner that we can work with in a mutually beneficial way to further each other's sporting and business aims."
Simon Grant, junior product manager at Coloplast said, "We are very pleased to continue to be involved with GBWR.
"We fully support the management team's goals to be medal winners at the Paralympic Games and also to develop the sport at grass roots level via the Coloplast League. To be part of this phase of GBWR's development is both enjoyable and important to us."
The GBWR league will continue to be called the Coloplast League and will give teams across the UK the opportunity to compete to be UK wheelchair rugby league champions for the year. The new season will commence after the Wheelchair Rugby World Championships in Vancouver which take place in September.
