CIMCIG's Construction Marketing Awards 2011 have received a record number of entries for 2011.

Given the economic situation, it might not have been a surprise to see fewer entries, as companies rein back spend on marketing activity. But the undoubted cutbacks have, if anything, spurred the sector's creativity.

Organiser Ross Sturley says: "You can see the effect of the recession - there has been a much more substantial entry to the digital categories than ever before. This reflects a trend, exacerbated by the economic situation, to take advantage of new cost-effective marketing channels and techniques."

CIMCIG Chairman Ian Exall says: "I'm particularly pleased with the excellent number of entries in the Strategy categories. These have nearly doubled, which reflects the growing influence of our members in the boardroom, and the increasing contribution we are making to economic growth."

The shortlist will be released on October 14, and the winners will be announced at a gala dinner in London on November 29.

The awards are sponsored by Glenigan, Building, Building Design and Construction News, and supported by CIB Communications, CFA, MRA, Facta, Highwire, Competitive Advantage, Chart Lane and Housebuilder.
