Somerset-based PR consultancy ADPR is celebrating 30 per cent year on year growth, despite the economic slump. Located in an attractive converted barn in the heart of Somerset's apple orchards, ADPR is one of the fastest growing and most dynamic PR consultancies in the South West.

Founded by former World Champion sailor Alice Driscoll, the agency has recently set up a new Consumer PR division, headed by two high calibre recruits from London and the USA.

Alice says that despite 2009 being a tough year because of the worldwide recession, the company's move to larger premises and the appointment of new senior staff has helped the company achieve its growth targets.

"We've been very successful in winning new clients who understand that during a recession marketing becomes even more important but you also need to concentrate on making your budgets work harder, choosing suppliers who can demonstrate the best return on investment. Our success has allowed us to invest in new talent and we've been delighted to see the quality of PR professionals who now want to carve their future careers here in Somerset," she says.

Spearheading the new thrust into the consumer sector is Peter Ramsay, who joins ADPR as Associate Director. Peter spent several years working at a high level in London consultancies and more recently in the USA. His experience spans a number of different sectors including soft drinks, organic food, environmental issues and nutraceuticals. Peter is a digital media specialist so brings a wealth of ideas and social media know-how to the agency.

Peter will be supported by Kirsty Mode, who joins ADPR from a London-based international communications agency. Kirsty has nine years' experience in London marketing and PR agencies, including extensive experience in the food and drink industries. She speaks fluent French and has successfully completed the Wine & Spirit Education Trust's Intermediate and Advanced Certificates in Wines and Spirits.

ADPR's latest wins include Cornish bottled natural spring water company Pure Blue Water and the exclusive Royal Thames Yacht Club in London. The consultancy has also recently been accepted as the first Somerset-based member of the PRCA.
