Useful Times, a new online newspaper written by students for students, has been launched by the brothers behind UsefulStudents.com.

A team of budding journalists, who are all currently university students, report on a wide range of topics that are of student interest from art to current affairs, film, music and science on the site which is free for students to access.

Editor of Useful Times - mature student, Brian Plumridge said: "Useful Times provides a fantastic platform for students to engage with each other and communicate the world's news from a student angle. Our journalists know the topics that are of interest to the student population and it's a great tool for them build up their experience and report on subjects they are passionate about.

"We've had great interest from students wanting to be involved with Useful Times and we welcome any one currently studying at university with an interest in journalism to get in touch." Brian is studying for a Post Graduate Diploma in Online and Radio Journalism at Liverpool's Hope University and has always had a passion for the media and journalism.

www.usefulstudents.com/useful-times is the brainchild of Useful Ventures founders Andrew and Mike Howes. The Useful Ventures banner covers a series of concepts geared up for the student lifestyle including UsefulDiscounts.com and Usefulstudents.com, the free innovative web-based job site providing a wide array of one-off, short term jobs for students to earn money whilst at university. Useful Students is now available in 22 cities across the UK. The site is of mutual benefit to businesses and anyone wanting help with odd jobs at home as they can post a job on the site for free. Postings on the site have ranged from unskilled labouring, dog walking and gardening to skilled tutoring or website design and coaching. The more unusual jobs have included a hypnotist's assistant and bouncy castle attendants.

Andrew Howes, operations director said: "Ultimately through the Useful Ventures brand we are aiming to create a student community for which the Useful Times site will be invaluable. Through our 'Useful' outlets we can communicate with students and offer them a bank of resources for making University life more affordable. It is well documented that the cost of attending University is set to soar so we hope we can offer valuable resources to make the experience more comfortable for students."
