RWM and Futuresource merger a positive step for industry

Emap and CIWM's decision to bring together two of the UK's leading recycling and waste management events marks a positive step for the industry, believes Riverside Waste Machinery's managing director Chris Oldfield.

Having both excelled as stand-alone exhibitions over the years, here Chris considers what lies in store for delegates when RWM and Futuresource will join forces for the very first time in only a few months...

"The waste management calendar is peppered with numerous important events and conferences, each with a significant role to play in achieving industry excellence. However the combined force of Futuresource and RWM very much strengthens the UK's offering, resulting in what is sure to be the most highly-acclaimed resource and waste management event in the country.

"Events such as Futuresource and RWM have never been just about sales - delegates attend because they want to learn. Year upon year we've seen a greater shift towards legislation, innovation and education, so with industry heavyweights such as the CIWM, ESA and Emap now working together, the level of knowledge-transfer at September's show is set to be unparalleled.

"I doubt many people would express negative comments about the new partnership. The merger very much reflects the needs of the industry, and makes perfect sense. I am certain it will be an event that the UK can be incredibly proud of, and I think that we will start to see an increasing number of our European peers coming over to take a look."

Having delivered an authoritative seminar focusing on alternative fuel production at RWM 2010, Chris is now looking forward to planning Riverside Waste Machinery's knowledge sharing programme for the all-new event. Why not come along from September 13 - 15 to hear what specialist expertise the team has to offer this year?
