Market leading food waste solutions expert, Tidy Planet, has announced its partnership with Italian based Ecofast to distribute the company's De-hydra product to the UK market.

Through grinding and dehydrating food waste that is sent to kitchen drains, Ecofast's De-hydra is able to reduce the volume of food waste by 80% and halve its weight, preventing this from being sent to sewers. Available for both commercial kitchens and apartment block use, Tidy Planet will now be offering the De-hydra alongside its other range of food and organic waste solutions.

Simon Webb, Managing Director of Tidy Planet, says: "The partnership with Ecofast will allow us to offer a wider range to customers, with the De-hydra offering catering venues a practical self cleaning solution for the disposal of food waste that has the familiarity of a waste disposer, but without causing blockages in drains.

"Water authorities in Dublin, Holland and Denmark have already banned companies from disposing of food waste via drains due to the problems that these substances cause in sewage treatment systems and the expense of removing blockages. There is pressure for the UK to follow suit and we feel that the De-hydra will offer a solution that can be used by companies of all sizes to reduce and de-water their food waste with minimal hassle."

The de-watered matter produced by the De-hydra weighs 50% less than the original food waste and this end product is then also able to be composted or digested to prevent any waste being sent to landfill.

Tidy Planet will be providing UK customers with a full choice of the De-hydra product range, which includes those for apartment block use right up to 1300kg/hour capacity commercial units. All models are compact and can be located remotely from the food waste disposers. Most importantly the De-hydra is the only de-watering system to be fitted with a self-cleaning system, which saves both time and money.
