A unique three-in-one protection system for pitched roofs has been launched by the UK's leading innovator in building membranes, Icopal.
Therm'X is a BBA and NHBC-approved, Part L-compliant membrane from Icopal's Eco-Activ range that is not only watertight and vapour permeable but also insulating, against heat gain in the summer and heat loss in the winter.
Comprising a reflective breather membrane on the outside, a reflective barrier on the in-side and a sandwich of insulting quilt, Therm'X has been designed to complement insula-tion in pitched roofs.
Research has shown that using Therm'X reduces radiant summer heat between 4°C and 9°C, helping to maintain optimum comfort levels in the interiors of all types of buildings ranging from schools and hospitals to offices and homes.
The UV-resistant reflective outer surface reflects infra red rays during the summer while the reflective inner surface and the integrated mat insulation helps to improve thermal per-formance. Part L compliancy is achieved taping overlaps with Therm'X tape to provide convection-tight construction and up to 30% less air leakage.
Its vapour permeability is resistant to wind-driven rain and snow while also allowing water vapour to pass easily into the tiled area outside, reducing moisture levels within the roof and controlling the risk of condensation.
Extremely strong and durable, it is nevertheless easy to handle, potentially making this premium product as popular with roofing contractors as with specifiers.
