The oldest architectural metal roofing and glazing company in the country is marking its 185th anniversary with the appointment of The Phoenix Partners to handle all its Public Relations.

Leicester based Norman & Underwood has appointed the Sileby full service marketing communications agency to help launch a strategic PR campaign aimed at raising its profile locally, regionally and nationally.

Cousins Thomas Norman and John Underwood founded Norman & Underwood in 1825 as a plumbing and glazing business. Since then, the business has expanded and now offers services such as replacement glass and glazing, aluminum and structural glazing systems, metal roofing and cladding, architectural leadwork and stained glass. It has also recently opened a stone conservation and scaffolding division.

Managing Director of The Phoenix Partners, Rachel Hargrave said, "We're delighted to be working with Norman & Underwood. Their skills and craftsmanship has come to be recognised not only in the UK but right across the world."

Norman & Underwood has worked on a large number of major contracts over the years including the covering of the famous Golden Dome of the Rock in Jerusalem, Bermuda Cathedral, The British Embassy in Moscow and Korea and locally St Paul's Cathedral, Westminster Abbey and Windsor Castle.

"We are looking forward to working with The Phoenix Partners in helping us celebrate 185 years in business," explained Managing Director for Norman & Underwood, Jon Castleman.

"We were impressed with the agency's knowledge and creative ideas in documenting a year which is very important to the whole of our business.

"This year is about telling people about how far we have come and informing people that whilst adopting new technology and processes we still maintain our valued traditions, which have really shaped where we are today."
