Digital time and attendance systems are helping improve efficiency in schools, colleges and Universities according to Chris Routledge, managing director of education sector specialist UK Time Solutions.
In the past time and attendance systems have simply recorded the hours worked by staff and the data has been used to compile payrolls, but digital systems are increasingly being used for roll call, allowing for accurate records in real time, rather than the delay experienced using traditional book based attendance systems.
Digital time attendance systems mean staff does not have to waste time carrying books to a central point since data is automatically collated and available to view at a glance.
Schools are increasingly using time and attendance systems to improve safety. In the event of a fire drill or an actual fire, the system provides accurate information on precisely who is in the building, be they staff, supply teacher or pupils. In the event of a fire alarm the system can be setup to automatically open locked doors to facilitate easy egress.
The system can provide a class change system playing pre-recorded MP3 audio files and can schedule automatic voice messages at pre determined times, or during fire drills.
Managing director of UK Time Solutions, Chris Routledge says:
"We spent many months talking to education professionals in order to discover where issues lay around roll call, time and attendance and safety. The result is our digital system which saves individual teachers time while providing management with accurate data indicating precisely who is on site; staff, pupils and external contractors. This has been welcomed as saving time while improving efficiency, both key factors in education management today."
The UK Time Solutions digital system is configured for each new location, incorporating the features required at that particular site. The system can be operated using proximity fobs, a swipe card or fingerprint activated biometrics.
