LEGENDS from the world of snooker will be arriving in Peterborough next month for one of the most important tournaments in the sport's calendar.

Household names including Steve Davis, Jimmy White, Dennis Taylor and John Parrott are among the 16 players confirmed to take part in the World Seniors Snooker Championship - which will be televised live from Exec Peterborough at the East of England Showground.

The venue has been specially chosen by event organisers to host the Championship on Saturday and Sunday November 5 and 6 - with Sky Sports broadcasting live to an expected audience of 1.5 million.

Local sporting fans, who might normally tune into the event on Sky Sports, now have the chance to see the action up close and soak up the atmosphere first hand.

Keith Dalton, events director at Exec Peterborough, said: "This is a tremendous coup for us and we are delighted to have been chosen to host this prestigious sporting event.

"As a regional conference and events venue, it's fantastic that we have the opportunity to further raise Peterborough's profile as a great place for major events, and we expect the 2,000 seats to be sold out prior to the Championships - with a further 1.5 million people tuning in live to the action."

The Championships kick off on Saturday 5 November at 1pm, and culminate in the final on Sunday evening. Last year's winner was Jimmy White, who beat Steve Davis in the final.

Ticket prices range from £10 to £30. To book, contact worldsnooker.com/tickets or call the booking hotline on 0871 620 7052.
