City West Commercials uses Haweka to save there customers fuel and tyres.

The latest research shows that many fleet operators are spending thousands of pounds every year employing the services of leading mobile wheel alignment companies, who have conducted tests with leading research agency MIRA and have concluded that it is possible to save up to 5% on fuel costs if the wheels are properly aligned.

There is even better news, as correct wheel alignment can increase tyre lifespan by 20%, reduce carbon emissions, increase driver comfort and vehicle safety. For most transport operations, fuel consumption and tyre wear are a large part of the operating costs. If the truck wheels are misaligned it can have an adverse effect on both, which means expenditure that can be easily avoided.
When truck wheels are aligned correctly, in addition to the fuel and tyre benefits, emissions are also reduced, there is less wear and tear on mechanical components, drivers report reduced fatigue and tyres are less likely to overheat.

Specific example
There is a Mercedes-Benz commercial vehicle dealer covering the South West of England that is working hard to help businesses reduce their operational costs in this tough economic climate. City West Commercials in Bristol, Devon, Somerset and Cornwall have recently invested in two Axis200-2 wheel aligners in order to enable them to help their customers save costs on both fuel and tyres. The Axis200-2 is specifically designed to take less than 10 minutes to accurately measure every angle on a truck in the as-driven position - there is no need to lift the vehicle.
City West Commercials are using the equipment on their range of vehicles from the Vito, Vario and Sprinter vans to the large Actros and Axor trucks.

Stewart McLagan, Aftersales Director said: "The Axis200-2 is a valuable piece of tooling which enables the technicians carrying out the job to set and align vehicles accurately. This means the vehicles we service will have their wheels perfectly aligned and can be driven away by the customer as our Mercedes-Benz manufacturer intended. Our customers will enjoy a reduced running cost through improved fuel consumption; savings on tyre costs and a more comfortable ride overall. The aligners compliment the quality service we offer and what you would expect from a Mercedes-Benz dealership.

"The Axis200-2 is used by City West Commercials 2-5 times a week to perfectly align vehicles, allowing customers to enjoy reduced running costs as well as decreasing carbon emissions, increasing driver comfort and vehicle safety. City West Commercials' own fleet is also running more efficiently and profitably after using the equipment. Promotional materials City West Commercials are so impressed with the Axis200-2 that they are introducing the equipment to all their customers through promotional materials and an e-newsletter. In their latest communication

"It's a question of balance", the dealer explains how incorrect wheel alignment costs more than just tyres. With the continuing increase of both tyre and fuel costs it's important that a truck's wheels are correctly aligned. City West Commercials has developed over the last two years and remains committed to delivering greater value by continuously improving service levels and quality of services - the Axis200-2 from Haweka UK is helping them do this.
