Taking place from 19 - 20 October, speakers from logistical departments of leading NGOs, such as Islamic Relief Worldwide and Médecins Sans Frontières will address some of the key issues facing the sector at the event's Conference.

There is a session on the Spotlight on medical supply chain logistics in the emergency context [14.00, 19 Oct], chaired by Pierre Boulet-Desbareau from Médecins Sans Frontières, plus a session for the Heads of Logistics: What are the keys to increasing the efficiency and effectiveness? What are the short and long-term priorities and strategies? This will be delivered by Amjid Illahi, from Islamic Relief Worldwide with Birgitte Olsen, Head of Logistics Department at Geneva IFRC introducing the session.

The two-day programme will also deliver additional educational sessions in accordance with the key themes of the event, including innovation, safety and corporate social responsibility.

Sightsavers International, Lifesaver Systems Ltd and Shelterbox will look into Driving innovation and investing in the market: working with OEMs to ensure that humanitarian aid supplies are cutting edge as well as fit for purpose [10.00, 20 Oct]. As one of the central themes at AidEx, the importance of innovation within aid will not only be celebrated in the Conference Programme, but at the Aid Innovation Challenge where a shortlist of budding inventors will present their ideas and exciting new concepts to help improve the delivery of aid.

Michael Pritchard, CEO of Lifesaver Systems and patron for AidEx, said: "With the world economy struggling to recover, the impact of global warming on the environment and the need for sustainability, innovation in aid is vital in combating the ever-changing world we live in. AidEx's celebration of innovation in aid underlines the complicated but necessary need for innovation in this area."

Corporate Social Responsibility: what are the objectives and criteria for involvement by big commercial organisations in humanitarian aid and development work? is a session presented by panellists from Microsoft, GlaxoSmithKline and ArcelorMittal.

Microsoft partners with leading NGOs, international humanitarian organisations and government organisations to lend its expertise and technology to help make communities more resilient in disaster prevention, response and recovery. For example, Bing Maps, a mapping services platform, enables first responders to visualise complex geo-spatial information to provide the necessary situational awareness. It provides mapping and imagery so that people can visualise incident and unit locations.

Over 200 key suppliers of emergency and relief products from around the globe will be representing their field at AidEx, including Barrett Europe Ltd, Toyota Gibraltar Stockholdings, Alpinter Relief Supplies, ContenO, Transautomobile SA and TSF Supply sprl. In addition to the Conference, the show will also offer a range of other features designed to enhance visitors' knowledge of humanitarian aid, with a Local Supplier Zone, free workshops, demonstrations and the Aid Donor Advice Clinic.

All of the conference sessions are free to attend and you will be given the option to reserve your place once you have registered.
