This has allowed Spanjer to ship its products on the same day as production for next day delivery.

Spanjer Chemicals Ltd., one of Europe's leading car wash chemical manufacturers, produces a wide range of high quality chemicals for the international car wash industry. Before the company came to Rhys Davies for help it was producing and distributing its products from various locations using three different palletised carriers. Rhys Davies gave Spanjer the chance to produce its chemicals within its Haydock warehouse, where Spanjer's staff pick and pack the product before Rhys Davies distribute it across the country. This means that Spanjer have been able to narrow down its carriers and centralise operations to reduce costs.

Glen Warriner, Director of Spanjer Chemicals Ltd. said, "The convenience of producing and shipping the product from the same place on the same day, rather than having a carrier collect from the location, saves time and money and allows us to work at our most efficient level."

Rhys Davies' eight regional hubs have assisted Spanjer in supplying its product on a next day basis. Glen said, "We can ship product to customers the same day that it has been produced and it is guaranteed to arrive with them the next day."

It was not only the regional hubs that appealed to Glen. Rhys Davies also employs ADR (Accord Dangereuse Routiers, the European directive on the carriage of hazardous goods) trained drivers, essential for carriers transporting potentially dangerous or hazardous goods. "A lot of big carriers avoid 'nasty freight'," Glen said. "Many carriers shy away from that because they don't want to go through the training with their drivers, who tend to come and go. The fact that Rhys Davies trains its drivers in this way is highly unusual and ticked another box for us."

Rhys Davies also assists Spanjer in its risk assessments. Although many of the chemicals used by Spanjer are not hazardous, the company takes its health & safety procedures very seriously. "Rhys Davies is very hot on that as well," said Glen. "We work together to ensure risk assessments are up to date and health & safety policies are met. We are handling mild chemicals so in the rare case of a spillage these need to be dealt with quickly and in the correct way."

Rhys Davies' experience in delivering to large corporations has proved valuable to Spanjer. Glen commented, "We are delivering into some very large companies that have quite strict booking in and booking out procedures. Rhys Davies is used to dealing with the demands of these types of customers and runs a very efficient system."
