Finishing Alliance supports major PrintIT! launch at London Calling

The PrintIT! programme introduces students to major design challenges and encourages them to consider a career in the print industry. The PrintIT! supporter package will offer both small and large companies attractive sponsorship opportunities, helping them attract the next generation of talent, writes Proskills Deputy CEO Tom Bowtell

Making it a full house of Finishing Alliance Sponsors, Freidheim International has confirmed their sponsorship of PrintIT!, joining Renz and Duplo, both long term existing sponsors.

"We are delighted to have support from all three members of the Finishing Alliance, especially in the week that we are launching the new PrintIT! Supporters initiative" commented Tom Bowtell, Deputy CEO of Proskills.

Proskills will be attending Duplo's London Calling 3D Event on 21-22 September where the new PrintIT! Supporters package, available to printers with a turnover of under £5m for just £200 a year, will be launched.

PrintIT! Supporters will be able to use PrintIT! branding in their promotional material, and also have access to work with local schools via the PrintIT! twinning programme. By working with PrintIT!, printers are helping raise the profile of the printing industry within UK schools, helping to secure the next generation of talent for the industry.

Tony Lock, Managing Director of Duplo and Chairman of PrintIT! has agreed to donate the proceeds of the raffle at the London Calling VIP evening to PrintIT!, which will contribute valuable resources to help support the industry's schools programme. "PrintIT! has excellent backing from the print and paper industries, but if we are to make it sustainable we need more support so I would urge printers and suppliers to put their full support behind PrintIT!" Lock concluded.

About PrintIT!
Launched in 2005, PrintIT! is an industry-wide educational initiative which aims to encourage young people to consider a career in print and paper.
As part of the curriculum-based PrintIT! course, students are challenged to create a print-based campaign. Aiming to promote the many varied and stimulating career paths available within the print and paper industries, the PrintIT! competition was extended in 2008 to include Year 9 students (aged 13-14) as well as Year 10 students (aged 14-15) studying for their GCSEs in Product Design and Graphic Products.
PrintIT! is also relevant to the Diplomas in Creative and Media and Manufacturing and Product Design. PrintIT! is led by Proskills UK, the sector skills council representing the print and paper industries.
